Skye Edwards
Skye Edwards (born May 1974 as Shirley Klarisse Yonavive Edwards) is a British singer, born in South East London. Until 2003, she was the lead singer of the band Morcheeba. Edwards decided to shorten her name to Skye by taking the first letter of each of her names and putting them together. She has sung on two charity collaborations, Perfect Day 1997, in aid of Children in Need and Band Aid 20, in 2004, in aid of famine relief in Sudan, Africa.

Upon being left out by Morcheeba, Edwards was replaced by Daisy Martey (formerly of Noonday Underground) as the band's vocalist. (Martey developed irreconcilable differences with the Godfrey Brothers. She toured briefly following the release of their first album with her, The Antidote, her place being taken by Jody Sternberg.)

[edit] Mind How You Go (Debut Album)
Skye Edwards debut solo album, Mind How You Go was released on February 27th, 2006 in Europe, the first single Love Show was big radio hit throughout Europe[citation needed]. It has also been featured on the American television drama Grey's Anatomy on Season 3, Episode 13: Great Expectations [1]. The UK release was at the end of the summer. The single planned would be What's Wrong With Me. There is a video's available on her MySpace site [2]. "People ask what this record means to me, but that's an alien question because I've been living and breathing it," says Skye. "It's not a question of what it means to me. This record is me."

It is expected that her cover of 'Feel Good Inc' will be properly released in the future. Whether as a single or just on a future album is yet to be known.

[edit] Second album
Skye is currently in the studio recording new songs for her second second solo album. Working with up and coming producer Alexis Smith (former programmer for producer Marius Devries) and Grace Jones producer and ex-lover Ivor Guest (4th Viscount Wimborne). It is expected to include a version of "Feel Good Inc" and is to be released in 2008.

Rumour of a collaboration with Grace Jones are persistent as they recently met and 'hit it off' at the Jarvis Cocker Meltdown, held at London's Royal Festival Hall where they were both on the same bill. Grace Jones new album is due to be released sometime this year.

Another collaboration for 2008 is with Marc Collins of the French group Nouvelle Vague. He has put together an album of popular songs featured in movies from the 1980s. Skye sings several songs on this album, including David Bowie's "This Is Not America" Featured in the movie The Falcon And The Snowman, Blondie's "Call Me" and Duran Duran's "A View To A Kill" from the James Bond film.

[edit] Miscellaneous
Skye has covered the Gorillaz single Feel Good Inc Live on KCRW radio station (along with other classic hits from her album) [3], and also at some live shows; this is also available on her MySpace site. The song Tell Me About Your Day was written by Skye when she was touring with Morcheeba in New Orleans in 1998.

Skye's song, Love Show, was featured on a third season episode called "Great Expectations" in Grey's Anatomy. It also appears on an American TV commercial for Nivea 'Sun-kissed' body lotion.
